Playa de Maimón

This beach is located at one end of the Maimón Bay and is directly accessible from two of the chain’s hotel complexes: the Senator Puerto Plata Spa Resort and the Playabachata Spa Resort. This is an incredible half-moon beach with golden sand that is surrounded by palm trees and features impressive views of the nearby mountain. Relax next to the azure sea on this uncrowded beach. In addition, as it is a coral beach, it’s a perfect place to put on your goggles and swim among colorful tropical fish.

Playa Dorada

Playa Dorada is one of the busiest areas in Puerto Plata, with numerous resorts, restaurants, bars, and entertainment. Its magnificent beach is bathed by warm waters and protected by coral barriers that are home to abundant marine life. It’s no surprise that because of its nature and services, it’s received blue flag certification. Remember that it’s a private beach, you have to pay to enter.

Playa Cofresí

Named in honor of Puerto Rican pirate Roberto Cofresí, this spectacular beach to the west of the city of Puerto Plata is one of the most untouched, prettiest beaches in the area. It’s perfect for relaxing, sunbathing, and swimming in its crystal-clear waters. You won’t ever want to leave this paradise.

Playa Sosúa

This half-moon beach, which is 20 minutes from Puerto Plata, is one of the most popular beaches in the Caribbean as it was one of the first beaches to attract tourism in the Dominican Republic. It’s a very lively beach that’s close to numerous restaurants and shops and is very popular with divers and snorkelers.

Playa Cabarete

A mecca for water sports lovers, this beach is famous for its favorable conditions for doing kitesurfing, windsurfing, and surfing due to its warm waters and consistent winds. In addition to being one of the most famous beaches in the entire Dominican Republic for water sports, Cabarete Beach is a beautiful place which is equally as appealing for its crystal clear turquoise waters. Likewise, the town of Cabarete is a destination with numerous entertainment options, especially for young people, as it has a variety of bars and clubs.

Playa Punta Rucia

This is one of the most spectacular beaches in Puerto Plata and is located in the western part of the province in La Isabela Bay. Punta Rucia is famous for being a favorite place for snorkeling due to its abundance of large coral reefs. The nearby beach of Ensenada is another little corner of the island with brilliant white sands that will leave you speechless. What’s more, boats that set off for the heavenly island of Cayo Arena leave from here.

Playa Costambar

This beautiful 1.25-mile stretch of golden sand is located between Maimón and Puerto Plata. This is the perfect place to spend the day relaxing in the shade of a coconut tree and dining in one of the numerous restaurants and bars along the coast.

Playa Cambiaso

Located very close to the town of Luperón, in the west of Puerto Plata province, this beach is considered one of the best in all of the Dominican Republic. This little-known virgin beach features fine golden sand and is lined with coconut trees. Getting to this beach is not easy as it’s only accessible via dirt roads full of potholes, but it’s worth the effort. It’ll surely be one of the most beautiful sights you’ll see on your trip.
